Part 6: Evaluate and Revise
Assessment of Learner Achievement
A rubric was used to grade the quality of the final work product from each group of students; in the case, the final product was the Symbaloo webmix in which online resources were collected, organized, and displayed. Students were graded on a scale of 1-4, with a 4 being exemplaray work, three being satisfactory work, a 2 being developing quality work, and 1 being non-proficient. The criteria being evaluated included: group teamwork and participation, creativity, number of resources created, and appropriate use of technology resources.
Evaluation of Strategies and Resources
To evaluate the strategies and resources utilized during this project, students were asked to complete a brief survey using Google Forms. The survey allowed students to share what they felt they learned from this project, what was their favorite part of the project, and what was their least favorite parts. Students were invited to share ways that they felt this project could be improved if we were to complete a similar assignment later in the school year.
Revisions
I compared the results of our class survey with my own observations made during the completion of this project to see if any congruence between responses could be observed. The students felt the project was worthwhile and they particularly enjoyed the technology integration of the unit. Based on their feedback and my observations, I will tweak the rotation model in the future to provide additional time for students completing the Symbaloo pages.
