PowToon Example
This instructional animation was created using the web app PowToon and was designed to be used with my high school AP Music Theory students. I created this short animation to help my students remember their key signature identification rules. There are separate rules for identifying sharp and flat key signatures and students often get them mixed up when they are first learning then. Both rules are covered in the animation. I used signaling principles to draw student attention to important information on the screen and ensure they were following my narration at key points. I was also careful to avoid redundancy by not including on-screen text that restated my spoken narration track. Transitions between animation slides were kept simple to avoid distracting the learner, but are still effective in showing that a new idea is being presented.
