Part 5: Require Learner Participation
Student Practice Activities
Students receive a varied educational experience provided by the rotation model that is being used for this activity. Whereas direct instruction is provided in one area of the rotation, students are actively engaged in control of their learning with the VoiceThread application and actively participating with the content by using Symbaloo to collect sources.
The students use computers and the two web-based applications to complete the components of the lesson. No other peripheral devices are necessary to complete the required parameters of the activity. Because the applications are web-based, students requiring additional time outside of the class period can access their work anywhere that they have an Internet connection. This would include using their mobile devices to access content.
Feedback
Direct feedback is provided by the instructor, along with the school media specialists who are assisting with this assignment. These comments are formative in nature and intended to help the student with their use of VoiceThread, Symbaloo, or Internet-based research prior to assigning a final grade for the work.
I used the assignment criteria to review each group’s Symbaloo webmix and provide a basis for grading. Successful completion of all parameters of the assignment is necessary to earn a 100. Each student is electronically provided a copy of my grading comments to further teach them how they can improve.
