Camtasia Example
This instructional video was created for my AP Music Theory students using Techsmith's Camtasia video capturing software. The video demonstrates, in very basic terms, how to set up an interval ear-training exercise on the website musictheory.net. This website is a standard tool often used in AP Music Theory classes to practice ear-training and music theory skills. I often assign exercises from www.musictheory.net as homework assignments for my students. This video shows students how to access the exercises and how to set the exercises up based on the current instructional sequence being covered in the classroom. This tutorial follows many of the instructional design principles introduced by Meyer to avoid cognitive overload. For example, all fade transitions are simple so as not to district the viewers, the video includes narration and video without additional onscreen text, and callouts are used to signal viewers as to where to focus their attention.
